Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm successful
in CIS tender 4 NEM Generation

Aula Energy strengthens its leadership in the energy transition with CIS-backed certainty

9th October 2025

Aula Energy is proud to announce that the South Australian onshore wind farm project Carmody’s Hill has been awarded an agreement under the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) Tender 4 NEM Generation.

Chad Hymas, Aula Energy CEO, said the announcement made by the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, the Hon Chris Bowen MP marks a significant milestone for the project and will provide long-term revenue certainty as the project works towards a Final Investment Decision in late 2025, with construction expected to commence in early 2026.

“We’re pleased to have the support of the Capacity Investment Scheme, which will fast-track the trajectory of Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm, meaning we can generate renewable electricity equivalent to the needs of over 176,857 Australian households.

We welcome the opportunity to partner with the Federal Government to bring more renewable energy online. This initiative, alongside other federal government initiatives, sends a strong signal to industry and investors about where capital can be mobilised to help decarbonise Australia’s economy”.

The Capacity Investment Scheme support will accelerate the path to delivery of the Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm a 256MW project in South Australia featuring 42 turbines, a 275kv transmission line and an option to build a 123MW battery energy storage system.

Mr Hymas also highlighted the achievements of the Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm project to-date.

“Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm has already secured key planning approvals and has built strong local support through community initiatives such as the Campbell Range Wind Farm Fund, collaborative forums with Regional Development Australia, and sponsorhips with the Nukunu community. The support from the CIS will enable us to move decisively toward financial close in and into construction and delivery in early 2026.”

These achievements are underpinned by a series of targeted initiatives designed to deliver lasting benefits to local communities and the Nukunu Community. With the backing of the Capacity Investment Scheme, these initiatives will now be further strengthened, enabling deeper engagement, broader participation, and more impactful outcomes across the region.
